Refrigerated

  1. Do not wash until ready to cook
  2. Store in perforated plastic bag or wrap in damp paper towel
  3. Refrigerate
  4. Use while still tightly coiled and bright green
Freezing freezing method 10-12 months

Blanched and Frozen

  1. Blanch fiddleheads briefly
  2. Cool in ice bath and drain
  3. Pack in freezer bags
  4. Cook from frozen; do not eat raw

Revival Tips

Wilted or browning fiddleheads should be used immediately in cooked dishes or discarded.
