Refrigerated

  1. Do not wash until ready to use
  2. Store in perforated plastic bag or crisper drawer
  3. Refrigerate
  4. Use while pods are bright green and firm
  5. Keep away from ethylene producers
Freezing freezing method 8-12 months

Blanched and Frozen

  1. Wash and trim; blanch briefly
  2. Cool in ice bath and drain
  3. Pack in freezer bags
  4. Best for gumbo, stews, frying

Revival Tips

Slightly slimy okra can still be used in gumbo or stews; trim any discolored spots.
