Refrigerated (Whole)

  1. Do not wash until ready to use
  2. Store in perforated plastic bag or wrap in paper towel
  3. Refrigerate
  4. Keep away from light to prevent fading
Cut/Prepared storage method for produce that has been cut open (shorter duration, different handling) 3-5 days

Cut Turmeric

  1. Wrap cut surface or store in sealed container
  2. Refrigerate
  3. Use soon—cut surfaces dry out
Freezing freezing method 4-6 months

Frozen (Grated or Sliced)

  1. Grate or slice and pack in freezer bag or ice cube trays
  2. Freeze
  3. Use in curries, golden milk, or cooking

Revival Tips

Dried or shriveled turmeric can still be used for grating or cooking; trim tough parts.
