Cool Dry Dark Place (Whole)

  1. Store whole white onions in a cool, dry, dark, well-ventilated place
  2. Do not refrigerate whole—moisture causes softening
  3. Keep away from light to prevent sprouting
  4. Keep away from potatoes and ethylene-sensitive produce
Cut/Prepared storage method for produce that has been cut open (shorter duration, different handling) 7-10 days

Cut White Onion

  1. Wrap cut half in plastic wrap or store in sealed container
  2. Refrigerate
  3. Use within about a week

Revival Tips

Sprouted white onions can still be used; trim green shoots if desired. Soft or moldy spots should be cut away.
