The Lettuce Keeper uses a two-part system to maintain optimal storage conditions. The container has a built-in reservoir at the bottom that collects excess water, preventing it from pooling around the lettuce and causing rot. At the same time, the reservoir helps maintain natural humidity levels by slowly releasing moisture into the storage environment.

This design addresses the key challenge of lettuce storage: maintaining high humidity (90-95% RH) without excess moisture that causes rot and slime. The drainage system prevents water buildup while the reservoir maintains the moist environment lettuce needs. The container also provides protection from physical damage and helps maintain consistent temperature in the refrigerator.
