Refrigerator

  1. Don't wash until ready to use
  2. Store unpeeled in crisper drawer
  3. Wrap cut ends in plastic wrap if cut
Cut/Prepared storage method for produce that has been cut open (shorter duration, different handling) 2-3 weeks

Cut Ginger

  1. Wrap cut ends tightly in plastic wrap
  2. Store in airtight container or bag
  3. Refrigerate—or freeze for longer storage can grate frozen ginger directly
Longest Storage maximizes storage duration, but requires more effort or special equipment 6-12 months

Frozen

  1. Wash and dry ginger
  2. Freeze whole in freezer bag can grate directly from frozen
  3. Or grate and freeze in ice cube trays
  4. Transfer to freezer bags once frozen
