Herb Savor Pod 2.0
Upright water-reservoir herb pod that stores bunches of herbs, scallions or asparagus standing in clean water and fits in the fridge door, keeping herbs fresh for weeks.
About
The Prepara Herb Savor Pod 2.0 is an upright, BPA-free plastic container that keeps fresh-cut herbs alive by letting their stems stand in a small reservoir of clean water, much like a bouquet in a vase. This 2.0 version is roughly 20% larger than the original and features a hinged clear door for easy access plus a tethered filler cap for topping off the water. Its tall, narrow footprint is designed to fit neatly in a refrigerator door, and it works for herbs like basil, cilantro, parsley, mint, chives, dill and rosemary, as well as scallions and asparagus.
How It Works
To use the pod, you open the hinged front door, insert a bunch of clean fresh herbs stem-side down, and add fresh water through the base filler cap so the stems sit in a shallow reservoir. Because most tender herbs keep best when their cut stems can draw up water, this hydration slows wilting and can extend freshness to as long as three weeks.
The sealed pod also limits moisture loss and air exposure to the leaves while the water keeps the stems from drying out. The key to results is refreshing the water every three to five days by pouring out the old water through the spout and refilling, which prevents the water from going stale and keeps the herbs hydrated.
